Requirement details
Recent photograph
- Format: JPG, JPEG
- File size: 30 KB to 100 KB
- Pixels: 320×400
- Shape: 4:5
- Background: Plain white or light-coloured
- Face should occupy 70–80% of the image; centred and clearly visible
- Recommended 320 × 400 pixels. Notification asks candidates to avoid uploading scanned photos or selfies. No shadows or red-eye.
Signature
- Format: JPG, JPEG
- File size: 20 KB to 100 KB
- Pixels: 300×120
- Shape: 5:2
- Background: Plain white
- Paper: White paper
- Ink: Black or blue pen
- Signature should occupy 70–80% of the image. No typed/digital text, shadows, borders, or extra marks. Do not upload a miniature or shaky signature.
Older GDS help/FAQ pages still mention photograph not exceeding 50 KB and signature not exceeding 20 KB. The January 2026 descriptive notification is used here instead of those older pages.
