Requirement details
Digital visa photograph
- Format: JPG, JPEG
- File size: 50 KB to 6144 KB
- Pixels: 600×750
- Background: Plain light-coloured background; clear contrast; no red-eye
- Head, shoulders and upper body. Facing the camera; plain expression; mouth closed; eyes open.
- Do not wear glasses unless you have to. No sunglasses or tinted glasses. Eyes must be seen clearly.
- JPEG, vertically oriented, at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, 50 KB to 6 MB. Do not mirror or flip. Do not use a scan of another photo.
Official page requires a vertically oriented JPEG that is at least 600×750 pixels and 50 KB–6 MB. It does not name an exact output size. UKVI guidance also says do not crop a phone photo — they crop it. This product keeps the original pixels when they already meet the minimum, and does not invent a 35×45 mm digital size.
